Memory Foam Mattress, an Overnight success!
The story of Overnight Mattress is an exciting adventure of three young entrepreneurs. Founded in 2002 under another corporate name in Michigan by three new college graduates of Andrews University, the company started retailing mattresses out of a storage unit. Within a year and a half, the company grew to five corporately owned mattress retail outlets and an additional thirteen licensee retail outlets. After finding the perfect business location in Johnson City, Tennessee, the business partners decided to refine their business model powered by web-based technologies. On February 19, 2008, a new website was introduced, www.overnightmattress.com.
The product line features cutting edge designs including removable covers and advanced visco memory foam called TruCell. Overnight Mattress has also capitalized on recent advances in foam technology and uses specialized packaging equipment to deliver the final product in a box that will fit in the back seat of most cars. With reduced shipping and storage costs, and the overall ease in moving and transporting memory foam bedding, the company is revolutionizing the bedding industry.
With this specialized packaging, Overnight Mattress has partnered with DHL to provide a service unavailable from any other mattress retailer on the internet. That is, overnight shipping to any address in the continental U.S. If ordered before 2:00 pm, it can be delivered by 3:00 pm the very next day. What is more, this service is free for certain mattresses.
The company's products are revolutionary. Most mattresses use a smart fabric technology, providing therapeutic benefits beyond the natural benefits of memory foam. For example, the Aloe Vera cover is made from a scientifically advanced new class of textiles. It contains over 75 nutrients and 200 active compounds that can help improve overall cellular metabolism and functioning, enhance the function of the entire immune system and aid in turning back the clock on the effects of aging on the skin. Another mattress is the Bamboo, using Bamboo yarn, which is made of 100% bamboo pulp fibre that as a wholly biodegradable and renewable natural product is fast becoming the most eco-friendly material of the 21st century. The Energy-Maxmemory foam mattress has the IntenseĀ® fabric, which neutralizes the static electricity that your body has built up during the day. That's right. During the day your body's natural electrical field can build up a static charge of up to 30,000 volts, leaving you feeling tense, nervous or agitated.
"Is a Memory Foam Mattress really worth the cost?"
Nobody wants to spend a lot of money on a new mattress. You never look at or see it, and in this economy, there are lots of better things to spend your money on, right? Before looking at the facts, it can be easy to have this view point. The fact is, there is nothing you will buy that you will use more than your mattress. It is used every single day, typically 6 to 8 hours daily. I once heard you should never be cheap on your mattress or your shoes, because you will almost always be on one of the two.
Buying a new mattress can and should be a long term investment. If you look at the cost of replacing an old mattress, and you divide it into a daily cost over the life of the mattress, you begin to see how buying a nicer mattress that will last a long time is a better investment, and will actually cost you much less over time. Some mattresses will last only two years. Others will last seven or eight years. On the other hand, good quality memory foam mattresses can last up to twenty or more years.
Let's look at the daily cost of buying a low quality, inexpensive mattress. You can probably find one for about $400, and it will most likely last you about two years. This will cost you about $0.55 per day, assuming you continually have to replace it every two years. A mattress that will last you about 8 years will typically cost about $800. This estimates to a daily cost of $0.27. This is half as much as the cheap mattress. On the other hand, and you can find a quality memory foam mattress for $1,000 (sometimes cheaper depending on where you look). On a daily view, this would cost $0.14. Again, this is only 25% of the cost of the cheap mattress.
A good quality memory foam mattress will do wonders for the way you feel and perform throughout the day. Can you imagine not waking up as often in your sleep. What if you could go to work each day feeling refreshed after a truly good nights rest. How much is this worth to you? We're not talking about a few good nights of sleep. We are talking about good sleep for fifteen or twenty years. Do you not owe it to yourself to find another way to save money, other than on something you use so often?
When looking for a new mattress, many people tell me they just don't have the money. Over the years, I have learned that most people actually could find the money, they just don't want to spend, or they don't see the value in spending very much. You may be one of these people. Often times, people that say they don't have the money just purchased a brand new plasma T.V., or a new computer. The amount of time they will use these large purchase items is no where near the amount they will use their mattress; and the benefit they will receive from them is slim to none.
Do yourself a favor and buy a good memory foam mattress that will last you for years and years. If you want to save money, buy off-brand cereal instead of brand name, because the amount that will save you daily will pay for your new mattress.
Is Density all that matters in Memory Foam?
It's very hard to shop for a memory foam mattress because of the vast amount of foam types on the market. The purpose of this article is to share a little insight to help your in your quest for the perfect new memory foam bed.
Memory foam density seems to be the biggest thing people use to compare memory foam products. Though this is a good indicator of quality, it is most certainly not the only thing to consider. Doing this is like buying a car based entirely on the engine it has. We all know that a car could have a great engine, but it may all together different than what you're looking for. For example, it may be too small or too big, or perhaps it has a very rough ride. Or, on the extreme side, it may be falling apart on the outside.
Though memory foam mattresses are much less complex than a car, the analogy still works. If the memory foam mattress you are considering is extremely uncomfortable, it does not matter how nice the quality is, does it? Or, if the mattress sleeps extremely hot at knight, you will not care how long it will last you when you wake up sweating profusely in the middle of the night, will you? Of course not.
There are pro's and cons to highly dense memory foam, like 5 lb and up. Though it is very high quality and will last a long time usually, these density foams typically sleep hot. Why, you ask? Because they are so dense, there is little to no air flow in the foam. So, the heat from your body escapes into the foam mattress and gets trapped.
On the other hand, a 3 lb visco memory foam mattress will not last very long. Also, even though it probably wil not get very hot at night, it will also not have very much memory, which is where the health benefits of the molding we've all heard of come from.
From all of the dozens of types of memory foam on the market, the density that seems to be the most comfortable and best quality based on real consumers opinions is 4 lb memory foam with an open cell structure. You cannott forget about this open cell structure. It allows the air to move freely throughout the memory foam, so heat can easily escape. 4 lb density foam is also usually a very high quality, long lasting memory foam.
Memory Foam or Latex, a Real Comparison Memory foam and latex, though they are both beddingfoam, are quite different from one another. This article will very briefly explain some of the similarities, and more importantly, the main differences between the two.
Memory foam, originally developed for astronauts of NASA, is a newer development than latex. It is a non-natural polyurethane product, designed to eliminate pressure points as a sleeping surface. It is temperature sensitive, meaning when it gets warmer it softens and when cooled it gets firmer. Latex, on the other hand, is a natural product of the rubber tree. Mattresses have been made from latex for well over 50 years. It, too, relieves pressure points because of the softness it has. It does not have the "memory", or slow rebound time, that memory foam has. In other words, when the foam is compressed, it will bounce back instantly.
Prices for memory foam used to be astronomical (pun intenteded). However, just like all technology, prices have dropped dramatically. Latex, on the other hand, has remained very expensive. Because it is not a new development, the prices have remained relatively constant with inflation. The high prices of latex can also be attributed to it's natural origin, as well as the highly involved manufacturing requirements. There are several processes each product must go through, including freezing and washing processes.
Everyone is different and will have different preferences. Both high quality memory foam and latex are very comfortable and will both last a very long time. The price for memory foam will be much less typically; however, it does not have the natural origin that many people like about latex.
